History & Politics...

The main picture above is the actual location where Custer fell during the Battle of the Little Bighorn on June 25, 1876. Far down below at the tree line can be seen the Little Bighorn River... where the Lakota Sioux, Northern Cheyenne, and Arapaho had been encamped. It must be kind of hard for these two young people "of today" to imagine the America that existed at the time of the Indian Wars of the 1870's.

A little History & Politics to music...
Billy Joel's "We didn't start the Fire" makes reference to a catalog of headline events during his lifetime, from March 1949 to 1989.   Here it is, set to pictures... a review of 40 years of History in less than 3 minutes!  Click on pictures for more information.

Early Global Warming?
To the left is a picture of a Sinagua Indian ruin site not far from Sedona, AZ. The site is located near the Palatki Ruins and is still under Archaeological Investigation... and hard to locate. If you look VERY closely, you will see the 'Builders Handprint'... left in the mud mortar about a thousand years ago (Note the magnified image in upper right-hand corner). No one knows for sure what became of the Sinagua people, but speculation centers on a major drought in the 12th Century which caused societal collapse. It is believed that the current day Hopi may be descendents of the Sinagua.
